            The Battle

The action sequences in SACRED are fast paced.
During the game the player can have up to 10 customizable action slots, which he can fill with special moves, shields, weapons and magic.

Example:
  • The left slots are for weapons and shields
  • The right slots are for magic and special moves
The battle diversity of close combat with the use of special moves is shown in this example, with the Gladiator who only has 4 action slots.

The player fills the action slots on the left side with:
  • Slot 1: Battle axe
  • Slot 2: Two swords for dual weapon fighting
On the right side the Gladiator places his desired special moves:
  • Slot 1: Weapon Throw
  • Slot 2: Hard Hit
As the battle begins, the "dual swords" (from the left hand slots) and the "weapon throw" (right hand slots) are 'selected'.

The Gladiator is confronted by three enemies:
  1. An Ogre, close combatant with a huge club, closing in from a medium distance is supported by an Orc bowman and another Ogre trying to attack from behind.

  2. The player decides to battle the two club-wielding Ogres first, as he sees these to be weaker enemies, as well as a means to reduce the number of enemies.

  3. Upon selecting an enemy the Gladiator runs towards the first Ogre.

  4. He hits his target with a standard attack, but wants to kill it faster, so he clicks repeatedly in quick succession on the chosen foe.

  5. At the same time, his special move indicator reduces in strength on the right side of the interface.

  6. The first Ogre falls to the ground, but the player has to face the second Ogre as well as the Orc bowman continuously firing arrows towards the Gladiator. Since the special move indicator has reduced, the action buttons are now blocked. The player decides to avoid the enemies while the special move indicator replenishes.

  7. The player elects to take out the Orc, since his arrows are more than irritating, using the special move "weapon throw". His two swords are hurled towards the Orc, taking him down.

  8. The active weapon slot is now empty, and changes to barehanded fighting.

  9. With a left click on the other weapon slot, the Gladiator wields his battle axe.

  10. The last Ogre has almost reached the Gladiator, and the player sees his special move indicator is maxed out

  11. The player wants to destroy the Ogre as quickly as possible, and decides for a weaker defense but a stronger attack.

  12. The player selects the special move "Hard Hit".

  13. The player then selects the remaining Ogre as his target, to which the Gladiator does a slow but devastating attack, killing it instantly.

  14. The Ogre dies through this "finishing move"

  15. The battle ends.
